In developing my own line of natural, organic skincare products, I wanted to still create a brand that stayed true to my heritage. I am so proud to be Greek, and I love the many beautiful, rooted traditions my family holds to help us remember the past while looking forward to the future. While I have learned so much from every member of my family, it was my Yiayia (grandmother), Maria Kazas, who taught me the importance of self care, especially through natural skincare practices.

My Yiayia showed me the importance of a healthy skin, body, and hair care regime, for both my physical and mental health and wellness. She was the person who first introduced me to natural skincare, especially her favorite greek ingredient; Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Having grown up in Kalamata, the second-most populous city on the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece, my grandmother said she was raised using olive oil for everything. She would use this amazing ingredient not only in her cooking recipes to promote internal health, but also externally to condition her hair, skin, and nails. Her philosophy with personal care was always “look good and feel good,” which was always best achieved through natural products. I always remember her beautiful, youthful skin, which remained healthy and glowing even until the day she died at the age of 85.

Olive oil contains fat- soluble vitamins a,d,e, and k

It wasn’t until I began to create my own line of natural products that I discovered for myself how powerful Organic Olive Oil truly is, and why it’s so beneficial for your skin. Full of nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants, olive oil restores skin and provides long-lasting moisture. Olive oil contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. These vitamins are beneficial for the skin. Olive oil-based products help prevent chapping, effectively remove makeup, and relieve sunburns. As women grow older, olive oil also helps to protect against the physical signs of aging, and can be used especially in facial masks to promote a clear-looking complexion. Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which is made with cooling olives, is considered to be the highest quality and best suited for personal care products.

Here’s 5 Main Reasons to Use Olive Oil In Your Daily Skincare Routine:

  1. Soothes and Moisturizes Dry, Flaky, Chapped skin

Dry skin typically occurs due to nutritional deficiency, but applying olive oil to skin on a regular basis can help replenish those key vitamins and nutrients your skin needs to restore its natural glow.

  1. Helps Maintain Skin Moisture

Dry and sensitive skin can also be caused from lack of moisture retention, leading to a rough and scaly texture. Olive oil however helps retain moisture and drive hydrating activities into the skin, such that these benefits are fully absorbed.

  1. A Natural Carrier Oil

Many major skincare brands rely on synthetic delivery agents to ensure the actives in their products are absorbed properly by the skin upon application. However, these synthetic chemicals can be potentially harmful especially with repeated use over time. Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil however is the best kept Greek Secret. This incredible ingredient is the perfect, all-natural alternative to other synthetic carrier oils out there.

  1. Lifting dead skin cells

Dead skin cells can build up and create stains and spots on your skin if not properly removed. Olive oil is great at lifting these dead skin cells, leaving your skin looking brighter, smoother, radiant, and naturally beautiful.

  1. Remove the signs of aging, especially on the face

For most struggling with aging skin, they often experience the following symptoms:

  • Skin feels rough, dry, and scaly
  • Increased appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Overall decrease in skin elasticity and collagen production

However, through applying olive oil every day, collagen production is further promoted by the healthy vitamins and nutrients it provides to the skin. This not only helps to treat these symptoms, but also prevents them years in advance, especially when applied daily.
